Hemingway wins bet in six words.
Somebody challenged Ernest to tell a story in 10 words or less.
Ernest drank free the rest of the night thanks to this little gem:
“For sale. Baby shoes. Never worn.”
Gotham Writers now places the bet once a year – sans bar.
Feel free to take a gander at some of my submissions. Admittedly, being in a bar might make them better.
“Once his happiness subsided, he knew the meds were working.”
“Still on one knee, he closed the box, hating Paris.”
“Watching his funeral made him ashamed to be alive.”
“She said, “Yes.” Never realizing it was the Seroquel talking.”
“The doctor gave the look. The race was on.”
“Knowing he was their favorite made the deed even easier.”
“Battery dying, he bled out saying goodbye to no one.”
“Sawing off his hand killed. But it beat the alternative.”
“It’s true love. They’re happy. Let’s end it there.”
